Fukushima reactor 3 troubles again.

Today black smoke appeared at Fukushima Daiichi reactor 3. The reactor was evacuated shortly after although radiation levels remained stable.

Power cables connected to Fukushima reactors

The power cables to the Fukushima nuclear plant have been reconnected, however the cooling systems are not switched on yet. Various small incidents where smoke and steam appeared in the reactors have led to careful step by step work. Everything needs to be checked carefully now now before the next step to switch on the [...]

High radiation measured 30km from Fukushima Daiichi!

News report that high radiation levels have been detected about 30km north of the Fukushima Daiichi plant. The measured levels are between 170 and 150 μSv (microsieverts). These levels are dangerous to humans over the long term. Today the fire trucks sprayed again water into reactor 3, as the cooling systems are still not working. [...]

Latest Fukushima nuclear plant pictures from the drone.

Yesterday a drone was sent out to get an overview of the nuclear plant Fukushima Daiichi. The video shows close pictures of the damage of the nuclear plant.

Fukushima reactor 3 and 4 flooded with water

The first helicopters have been sent out to drop water over Fukushima Daiichi reactor 3 and 4 to cool down the spent fuel pools. Shortly before starting the water drop action a Helicopter has been sent out to monitoring radiation levels above the nuclear reactors. Tepco also plans to set up new power lines to [...]

Smoke in reactor 3 Fukushima Daiichi.

News reported That smoke appeared today in reactor 3 of Fukushima Daiichi. The cause of the smoke is unclear. The pressure of the core vessel is stable. The current rain falls in Japan are an additional threat to the population as it could contain radioactive particles. Update: It seems the smoke in reactor 3 came [...]

Again Fire at Fukushima Daiichi reactor 4

Reports arrived that the fire at Fukushima Daiichi reactor 4 broke out again. It is speculated that the fire broke out again because the first fire was not completely out. Latest radiation measurements revealed high radiation levels in reactor 4. This may be the result of a boiling storage pool for spent fuel rods. Update: [...]

Explosion at Fukushima reactor 4!

News report that there was fire in reactor 4 of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant which was followed by a hydrogen explosion. The fire has put out soon after, however radioactive dust was released into the atmosphere and radiation levels immediately increased around the Fukushima plant. Fears come up that a storage pool of used nuclear [...]

Fukushima Daiichi reactor 2 explosion – high risk of radiation leak

On Tuesday morning an explosion in Daiichi reactor No 2 occured. It is believed that the pressure suppression system got damaged by the blast. According to recent news, the risk of radiation leaks significantly increased after that incident.
